# llms.txt generators: tools and services

> What to create llms.txt with: CMS extensions, plugins for documentation generators, command-line utilities and web services, with a note on what is no longer maintained

A tool is chosen by what the site runs on. A content management system takes an extension, a documentation generator takes a plugin, and anything else takes a utility that reads `sitemap.xml`.

The best option is the one that assembles the file on publication: then it does not go stale.

The facts on this page were checked on October 3, 2026. Some tools from older lists have disappeared or been abandoned by that date.

The author of `mkdocs-llmstxt` has declared the project to be in maintenance mode: no new features.

removed from the list
Tools that did not exist on the check date were removed from the earlier version of this page: two WordPress generators, the Jeeves plugin, the `llmstxt-parser` package, the `llms-txt-php` library at its former address. The `mcpdoc` server was archived by its owner: [llms.txt and MCP](https://llms-full-txt.ru/en/reference/mcp-relationship/).

## Directories of sites with llms.txt

Directories collect the addresses of published files. The largest open one is `llms-txt-hub`. There are also `llmstxthub.com` and `directory.llmstxt.cloud`.

Use them with a caveat: entries age, and some listed sites no longer serve the file. A checked list: [Who publishes llms.txt](https://llms-full-txt.ru/en/reference/adoption/).

## What to check after any tool

1. The file answers `200` and is served as text.
2. It has the site name and summary, not only a list.
3. No service or private pages.
4. Links have notes, and the notes make sense.
5. It is clear when the file will be rebuilt next.
